Inheriting the World
|
|
This world cannot continue to function the way it is if we wish to live out the next hundred years. Not only do both government and the individual’s perspectives on the environment need to change, but also the way we relate to each other.

My Belief....
|
|
I believe that the key to ensuring that humanity survives over the next 100 years, is for individuals across the whole social and economic spectrum – starting from the very top of the government and business and ending with the average citizen – to truly realize and sympathise with the apparent serious dangers we create every day.

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation inorder; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family inorder; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personallife; we must first set our hearts right.

Cadbury Independance Lost...another nail in the coffin of any actually British industry
|
|
Until now Cadbury had fought a public campaign to preserve itsindependence, attracting support from Lord Mandelson, the businesssecretary. But Kraft Wins.... Its a Shame...
Perhaps I am just being sentimental here but this seems like anothernail in the coffin of any actually British industry with any uniquecharacteristics still going. Sorry to go all Daily Mail but it doesseem the appropriate response.

REMEMBRANCE DAY
|
|
In flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt down, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In flanders fields
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In flanders fields
(Lt Col. John McCrae 1872-1918, Canadian army)

Remembrance Day –contribution of the Commonwealth soldiers
|
|
My thoughts are sailing, over oceans, through deserts, gently across miles
Its long way from here but my heart is heavy,
I loosen the grip in my fingers, and I lower my head
It’s over two decades since the end of World War II,
Today is Remembrance Sunday
I see poppies worn everywhere, the deed is done
The war is work in progress; I respect the city of Wotton Basset
For she has such great shoulders to bear the cross of grief
The lives of the brave are celebrated; the grieving loved ones are supported
From the depth of the earth many more souls lie restless
We have broken faith with them, our Commonwealth soldiers
From every nation they came, brave and proud
Fought for honour and glory to defend Queen and Crown
Today I wear a poppy in honour of the fallen brave and virtuous
That their departure will not be in vain
our Commonwealth comrades

A THOUGHT FOR ALL....
|
|
Norwegian Nobel committee Statement...
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the worlds attention and given its people hope for a better future.
His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the worlds population"

UN Climate Summit: Key Quotes
|
|
FRENCH PRESIDENT NICOLAS SARKOZY "We are on the path to failure if we continue to act as we have. Considering how complex this negotiation is, a new summit before Copenhagen is needed.
France proposes that the heads of state of the major economies responsible for 80% of emissions ... meet in mid-November. They will need to make clearer commitments to ensure Copenhagen's success. "

UN Climate Summit: Key Quotes
|
|
JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER YUKIO HATOYAMA "For its mid-term goal, Japan will aim to reduce its emissions by 25% by 2020 compared to the 1990 level. Japan is prepared to provide more financial and technical assistance than in the past, in accordance with the progress of the international negotiations.
Public financial assistance and technology transfer to developing countries are critically important.
I will now seek to unite our efforts to address current and future climate change with due consideration of the role of science. I am resolved to exercise the political will required to deliver on this promise. "
