The Ministry is fully committed to providing the necessary enabling environment to ensure youth empowerment in Uganda. In that direction, we have put in place legal, policy and institutional framework to ensure that the mission of empowering our youth is achieved. The National Youth Policy which provides a general guideline on how to develop the youth was formulated and inaugurated in 2000. The National Youth Council was established by the National Youth Council Statute of 1993 to provide for both institutional and legal framework of youth participation. The government is fully committed to ensuring that Youth Councils continue to exist and run its programmes independently.
My Ministry has also implemented a number of government programmes to ensure youth economic empowerment
